
Know the appropriate written safety rules and procedures and follow them. Assist departmental help desk personnel with trouble-shooting of departmental client/server systems. Participate with emergency on-call rotation for departmental client/server systems as required by the department manager. Assist with testing, documentation, and training efforts on all client/server systems.
Provide information by answering questions and requests. Comply with departmental guidelines for database design and documentation standards as articulated by team leader and departmental manager.
Work with development staff in the implementation and optimization of actual database structures using database design concepts expressed in models such as Entity-Relationship (ER) diagrams.
Work with network staff to develop and implement procedures to prevent data loss and maximize system availability, including setup and management of a database backup/recovery scheme.Utilize RDBMS tools and utilities to monitor, tune and optimize system performance.Work with development staff and other necessary Board personnel to implement and maintain procedures for ensuring data security via control, monitoring, and auditing of data access.Test and modify databases to ensure that they operate reliably maintain database performance by computing optimum values for database parameters.Manage database security/integrity and backup procedures.Design maintenance procedures and putting them into operation.
Troubleshoot as necessary to identify and resolve system problems, working with RDBMS vendors as necessary. Install and maintain relational database management system (RDBMS) software implementing new releases completing maintenance evaluating computer operating systems and hardware products. In addition, the Database Administrator will utilize the facilities of relational database management systems and related software packages to control and protect company data. The Database Administrator will design and control the use of database resources, analyze the interrelationships of data usage, and assist in defining physical data structures and logical views of data elements.
